Below is the schedule of lessons. Homework assignments will be posted each day. Make sure that your Quia accounts are set up. The instruction sheet, with the course code you need, will be distributed in class. The Quia website is: http://books.quia.com
Textbook: Interaction: Révision de grammaire française (7th Edition, Heinle).
Students are responsible for reviewing the first FIVE chapters (covered in FRN 215).
One of the most important reference pages for grammar is the French Grammar Review Pages (the section for 313).

| 12 | Wednesday, Oct. 14 | Classes follow a Monday Schedule Choose one of your past journals or the first Bienvenue text you wrote and make corrections to it. Retype it (double-spaced!) and hand in the original with the corrected version. Do not simply copy my corrections onto your new text. In some instances you need to consult the online dictionaries to make sure that your vocabulary is correct. No grade will be assigned if you do not hand in the original with your revised text. |
| 13 | Monday, Oct. 19 | Practice reading/recitation of "Demain dès l'aube." Hand in your re-written text/journal/composition (this will be the written text for your mid-term), if you have not already done so. Bring Delattre and Phonétique progressive texts to class (along with your copy of the phonetic alphabet). If you did not complete the first recording of the Phonétique progressive, do it by Monday. Then do the recordings for the mid-term. Interaction: Chapitre 7, Disjunctive pronouns. Read pp. 243-244 and do exercises 1, 2 pp. 245-246. Go to the TV5 site and watch the first two segments of the Oct. 11 program of Kiosque: Introduction and the Edito: Nobel oblige. Answer the questions on the sheet distributed in class (and as a PDF at this link). This is an introduction to the work we will do after the mid-term exam on the use of the Discours indirect. There is a new film to watch, to prepare us for our work on the films of Marcel Pagnol: the English version, Fanny. Start to watch it, since you have an assignment due (see below). |
| 17 | Monday, Nov. 2 | We will finish up any discours indirect exercises that remain. Rewrite your text about Kiosque, using the discours indirect, where appropriate. Look at the segment again to check your vocabulary and information. Hand in your original text as well. Discussion (en français!!!) of Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis All rewrites (including drafts) of the three texts about Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis due. This will be the last opportunity you have to make up any/all of the work that is missing. |

Do NOT do the translations yet!) and the supplementary exercises on the conditional/past conditional and bring them to class (don't do these exercises yet).

Incorporate the answers into a summary of these sections, giving specific examples from the film. We will compare scenes from the English version to the French version. |
