How to use this worksheet: This checklist will address the basic requirements
for those seeking a B.A. degree in History at the College of Staten Island of the City University of New York. By checking off requirements, you can be certain that you have fulfilled each. This worksheet was adapted from the CSI Undergraduate Catalog, 1996-1997. - The B.A. requires demonstrated proficieny in a foreign language. This requirement may be satisfied by successful completion of one of the following:
A course offered by the Modern Languages Department at the 213 level.
- OR
Proficiency through the 213 level in any language other than English demonstrated by examination.
- (Credits earned in fulfilling the foreign language requirement for the B.A. will also fulfill the distribution requirements of group C3; for those who fulfill the requirement through examination, any one course at the 215 level or above in the same language will fulfill the group C3 requirement.)

The twenty-four credits must include at least two 300-level courses. A 200-level geography course may be used to meet this 24-credit requirement. At most one independent study course may be used to satisfy this requirement. Cumulative GPA in History courses must be 2.0 or higher.
