Text Box: International Business Concentration
B.S. Degree in Business

The Department of Business at the College of Staten Island offers the only Business Bachelor's degree in CUNY with an International Business Concentration. The Concentration is based on the established Business Baccalaureate curriculum, covering accounting, economics, finance, marketing, and management and takes full advantage of the unique range of learning and experience of the international faculty at CSI who teach in economics, political science, history, modern languages, and business.

Options of a semester of study abroad and of an internship in an international business are significant components of the Concentration. CSI faculty and students participate in programs in Europe, Latin America, and Asia as well as at the American University of Rome and Nanjing University.

Students are encouraged to combine the International Business Concentration with specific functional skills such as accounting, management, marketing, finance, or information technology. For example, a student can complete the International Business Concentration and a minor in finance by taking only one additional course. A dual major in international business and economics or another business area can be completed by taking as few as two additional courses.

Career Opportunities

New York City is at the very center of growing opportunities in international business with firms that have a critical need for skilled employees who understand the global aspects of business and who are prepared to incorporate the international dimension into traditional areas of business.

The International Business Concentration prepares students for a wide array of positions, including those in large multinational firms or smaller, more entrepreneurial firms. Students are also prepared to develop their own export or import ventures. In some cases, students have returned to their home countries to accept positions with local businesses or to step into a family enterprise.
